16-bit FreewareOur 16-bit programs are the ones that were written in VB3 and originally released as shareware back in the early 1990s. When AOL was first getting started, we uploaded these programs to their shareware repository and had some success with them. This was back when we delivered these programs through the mail, and each program fit onto a single floppy disk! By today's standards, these programs are primitive, but back then they were a real help to people using the early Windows OS. These applications were developed on the Windows 95 platform. They have been thoroughly tested in both the Windows 3.x and Windows 95 operating environments.
The following programs are widely available on the Internet and were not written by KnowWare. They are necessary for the proper functioning of Echo On and Archivers. Please refer to the documentation that comes with the PKZip, LHA and ARJ programs to find out about any necessary registration procedures for those programs.
