Video Transport powers The First, a TV channel with remote anchors

The First is a new TV channel launched in October and currently distributed via Pluto TV, a popular free OTT streaming service. Medialooks Video Transport has become the backbone of the team’s regular video production process. We sat down with Greg Waugh, Executive Vice President of Technology, to learn more about his company and the details behind their production process.

In addition to its headquarters in New York, which hosts the main control room, the startup operates three remote locations: another one located in Lower Manhattan, one in Houston, Texas, and one in San Diego, California. Each of these locations serves as a remote studio equipped for either a single or multi-camera shoot, and each is largely unattended. There may be the host and possibly one other person—but all of the programming is entirely automated. Valve expects some modder will fix Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx, Valve’s return to the universe of headcrabs and Combine radio static may be great, but if you don’t have the VR gear, you can’t play it. Don’t fret about missing out on the greatest Half-Life since Lost Coast. Valve’s Robin Walker fully expects someone clever will mod the game so even the non-VR […]

The video SDK roadmap for Q1 2020

Last year we released 3 major versions of our video SDK with new features and fixes to help you move your business forward. Similarly, this year we also plan 3 major releases with public beta versions in between. This post highlights our plans for the nearest future.

  • A new mode for decoding and encoding video: mfcodecs. This is a new video pipeline, designed from scratch: it is simpler, newer and easier to maintain—meaning that we will come back

That’s it. There’s no need to craft or explore anything else in No Man’s Sky. There are now bobble-heads. Deprecating the Flash Overlay Plugin

Moving from Flash to HTML5

By end of 2020, we will be completely removing support for the Flash Overlay Plugin, which was a great way to add high-quality animated graphics and dynamic content to video streams. We strongly suggest that all customers, who have been using Flash, migrate their solutions to the HTML5 Plugin during this year.

What happened?

Adobe has committed to support the technology through 2020 and it will be officially deprecated by Microsoft by December 31st:

Flash will be completely removed from all browsers by December 31, 2020, via Windows Update.

After the technology is disabled by Microsoft, it will not be technically possible to deploy the Flash Overlay Plugin on up-to-date systems. Due to the fact that the Plugin uses Internet Explorer components to run Flash, it will simply stop working after the update.

Therefore, Medialooks will be no longer renewing Flash Overlay licenses and will … Read more
